Roundup: Third-period rally nets tie for Harvard

Alex Killorn and Danny Biega led the Harvard men’s hockey team with a goal and an assist each as the Crimson erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to tie No. 14 Union, 3-3, in Schenectady, N.Y.

Union (9-5-6, 3-2-3 ECAC) jumped to a 1-0 lead on Wayne Simpson’s ninth of the season just 1:05 into the game.

Harvard (4-4-5, 3-3-3) tied the game on Alex Fallstrom’s fifth of the season 3:58 into the second.

The Dutchmen extended the lead on power-play strikes from Mat Bodie and Daniel Carr in the second period.

The Crimson rally started when Killorn slammed a one-timer past Troy Grosenick (23 saves) at the 1:04 mark of the third, trimming the deficit to 3-2.

Biega tied the score, 3-3, with a shot through traffic from the right point at 7:03.

Steve Michalek made 33 saves to pick up the victory.

Harvard went 2 for 2 on the power play, improving to an NCAA-best 34.4 percent.

Holy Cross 3, Air Force 3 - Brandon Nunn and Luke Miller gave the Crusaders (8-9-1, 6-4-1 Atlantic Hockey) a 2-0 advantage, but the Falcons (10-5-3, 8-2-2) stormed back to take the lead, before Holy Cross’s Mike McNamara tied it 1:39 into the third period in Worcester.

Princeton 3, Brown 2 - Michael Sdao lifted the Tigers (5-9-4, 4-7-1 ECAC) to victory over the host Bears (6-7-1, 3-4-0) with the winner at 3:02 of overtime.

Dartmouth 4, Rensselaer 3 - Eric Robinson, Alex Goodship and Rick Pinkston scored in a six-minute stretch of the second period to lead the Big Green (7-5-2, 4-3-1 ECAC) over the host Engineers (3-16-0, 1-7-0)).

Quinnipiac 2, Yale 1 - Kevin Bui and Loren Barron scored to give the Bobcats (12-7-4, 4-4-3) the road win over the No. 20 Bulldogs (7-6-1, 4-3-1).

Bentley 2, Robert Morris 1 - Freshman Alex Grieve’s slap shot with 9.7 seconds left lifted the Falcons (6-9-3, 6-3-2 Atlantic Hockey) over the Colonials (9-8-2, 7-3-2) in Watertown. Branden Komm had 30 saves for the win.

Women’s hockey

BC 3, Clarkson 2 - The fourth-ranked Eagles (14-6-1) got three unanswered goals from Ashley Motherwell, Blake Bolden and Dru Burns for the comeback win over the Golden Knights (12-6-4) at Conte Forum. Mary Restuccia had three assists and Corinne Boyles stopped 32 shots for her sixth 30-save game of the season.

Princeton 3, Harvard 0 - Sally Butler scored her 10th and 11th goals of the season and Danielle DiCesare added her fourth as the Tigers (7-9-3, 6-6-1 ECAC) blanked the No. 10 Crimson (9-5-0, 6-3-0) in Princeton, N.J.

St. Lawrence 3, Northeastern 2 - Claire Santostefano and Brittany Esposito scored in the third period to erase a 2-0 deficit, but the No. 7 Huskies (14-5-1) fell to the Saints (10-7-3) on Kelly Sabatine’s strike at 9:18 of the period, ending their five-game unbeaten streak.
