After the ensuing faceoff, Needham got the puck in deep. Senior defenseman Timmy Parlato’s shot was turned aside but Davis put the rebound home with nine seconds remaining.
“It was a great win,’’ said coach Bill Guisti. “Everyone was very excited. It was great to tie it up and with 39 seconds left we just hoped to preserve the tie.’’
Three defensemen factored into the scoring in Needham’s comeback.
“We like to use the points a lot,’’ Guisti said. “Getting shots to the net is what we preach all the time, and then our guys can get in there and do the dirty work it takes to get the goals.’’
Senior goalie Connor Murray had 25 saves for the Rockets. “He’s got good size, very athletic, great kid,’’ Guisti said. “He was our No. 1 guy last year, and played exceptionally well in the Super 8.’’
