A woman who admitted shooting to death a Connecticut grocery store clerk last year has been sentenced to 38 years in prison.
The Connecticut Post ( http://bit.ly/sUQPDr) reports that 21-year-old Vanessa Ortiz was sentenced Friday for the July 12, 2010, death of Arun Narote, a graduate student from India whose family says he was working at Norman’s Grocery and Deli in Bridgeport to earn money for his studies.
Ortiz pleaded guilty in September to felony murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. Two others also were charged in Narote’s death. Prosecutors say Ortiz was the one who pulled the trigger.
