The city’s Licensing Board on Thursday approved the opening of a new sushi restaurant at the former home of Terrie’s Place on East Broadway.

Kun Jin Kim, owner of Moko Japanese Restaurant, said he would like to have the establishment open in the next few weeks, pending approval by the city’s Inspectional Services Department.

The approximately 1,200 square-foot restaurant, at 647 East Broadway St., will provide take-out service as well as delivery and will have close to 42 seats for dine-in patrons.

The restaurant will be open from 11:00 a.m. — 12:00 a.m. during the week and from 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 a.m. on the weekends.

At a hearing before the Licensing Board Tuesday, Kim, who also owns Samurai Boston on Boylston Street, received support from the offices of the mayor, At-Large Councilor Felix Arroyo and At-Large Councilor Ayanna Pressley.

At this time, Kim said he is not requesting a license to serve alcohol, but in the future after meeting with local community groups he might pursue one.
