DALLAS — The Red Sox signed lefthanded reliever Jesse Carlson to a split contract with an invitation to spring training.
Carlson, 30, is a Connecticut native with three years of experience, all with Toronto. He has a career 3.63 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 162 appearances. He had rotator cuff surgery last season and appeared in only 20 games.
