With the news that the Celtics are pushing hard to trade Rajon Rondo for Chris Paul, we'll get the Rondo questions out of the way right off the bat. Training camp starts tomorrow, and while Rondo has been working out in Waltham all week, there's a chance that we know Paul's landing spot as early as Friday afternoon, which would put an end to the Rondo rumors one way or the other.

1. Short term Rondo is worth stability and a chance (however remote) at a title this year. Long term, he's worth building around because having an All Star point guard with the potential to be a top-3 PG is always a good place to start. He'd also command more than his current salary on the open market, so he's "worth" more than an equal player at a higher cost.
All of that, of course, is avoiding the question. Is he worth trading? If you can clearly upgrade the roster, by all means, send him on his way. I'm a huge, huge Rondo fan, so that's hard for me to say and the list of guys I'd trade him for is very, very short. However, one of them happens to be Chris Paul.

Jeff Green has trade value, although it would be a classic "sell low" by the C's after Green struggled in Boston last year. He looked a lot better for most of his time in OKC and my guess is he looks like a much better player this year in Boston. I doubt he's going anywhere, but looking at that current roster, he's the only guy I would think teams would want besides Rondo.
Of course, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett would also garner some interest, but they are the Godfathers of the Big 3 concept, and are being paid a ton of money, so I just can't imagine anything happening there.
