Dorchester merchants hope residents will shop local tomorrow, as part of National “Shop Small Business Saturday.”

In Uphams Corner the Uphams Corner Main Street has collected promotional deals from over 20 businesses in the district featuring specials at restaurants, clothing stores and hair salons.

The Strand Theater will also celebrate shop-local Saturday with its holiday kickoff party and tree-lighting ceremony.

The party, which will also feature stories and dancing, starts around 4:00 p.m. and the tree lighting will be at 5:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the free event.

A slew of other tree lightings are planned throughout the neighborhood Nov. 26:

Lower Mills (3:10 p.m.), Port Norfolk (3:30 p.m.), Harbor Point (4:00 p.m.), Meetinghouse Hill (4:30 p.m.), Blessed Mother Theresa Church (5:30 p.m.), Savin Hill at the Ryan Playground (6:00 p.m.), Fields Corner (6:30 p.m.), King St. Playground (7:00 p.m.) and Peabody Sq. (7:30 p.m.).
