Town Meeting next week

Special Town Meeting on Nov. 29 is expected to include preliminary votes on two big-picture issues: the creation of a regional school-district planning committee and a town government study committee. Town Administrator William Phelan said the government study committee could tackle subjects such as whether certain officials are elected or appointed, and to whom boards report. Voters will also be asked to approve hiring of four civilian dispatchers for the emergency dispatch service, which has reached an agreement to provide fire and police dispatching for Abington. Holbrook already provides fire dispatching for Sharon. The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. at Holbrook Junior-Senior High School. - Jennette Barnes
