November 04, 2011

Four names are being added to the state’s war memorial at the University of New Hampshire.

The Memorial Union Building on the UNH campus is the official war memorial for the state, and honors all state residents who perished in military action from World War I through the present.

The UNH Veteran Student Organization and the UNH Air Force and Army ROTC programs organized Friday’s ceremony to honor Pfc. Andrew Stevens of Stratham, who died in a 2003 training exercise in New York; Pfc. Clinton Springer of Peterborough, who died in Afghanistan in 2010; Pfc. Buddy McLain, who lived in Berlin as a child and died in Afghanistan in 2010; and Army medic Spc. Nicholas Bernier, an Exeter High School graduate who died in June of injuries suffered in Afghanistan.
