Massachusetts is well represented on the list of National Book Award finalists announced yesterday. Locals honored include Somerville’s Andrew Krivak for his novel “The Sojourn’’; Brookline’s Edith Pearlman for her collection of stories in “Binocular Vision’’; Harvard’s Stephen Greenblatt for his nonfiction “The Swerve: How the World Became Modern’’; Tufts and Boston University Law grad Franny Billingsley, who was named in the young people’s literature category for “Chime’’; Cape Codder Carl Phillips for poetry in “Double Shadow’’; and Radcliffe grad Adrienne Rich for poetry in “Tonight No Poetry Will Serve: Poems 2007-2010.’’ Harvard grad John Lithgow will present the awards in New York on Nov. 16.
