Sizemore was sent in by manager Bob Melvin to hit for Eric Sogard, and he ripped Yoshinori Tateyama’s 1-0 pitch into the left-field seats for his first career grand slam.
Diamondbacks 6, Padres 5 - Chris Young and Lyle Overbay homered off Heath Bell in the ninth to send the game into extra innings, then Joe Thatcher walked in the winning run in the 10th to help Arizona stretch its franchise-record, home-winning streak to 15 games - the longest in the majors this season.

Rockies 12, Reds 7 - At Denver, Jordan Pacheco broke a fifth-inning tie with his first career homer and added a two-run single in the eighth for Colorado.
Cardinals 4, Braves 3 - Lance Berkman had a single, RBI double, and walk - reaching base seven straight times over two games - and host St. Louis inched closer in the NL wild card race. The Cardinals have taken the first two games of a three-game series to reduce Atlanta’s wild card lead to 5 ½ games.
Marlins 3, Pirates 0 - Anibal Sanchez (8-7) pitched a one-hitter and tied his career high with 11 strikeouts to win for just the second time in his last 16 starts as Florida prevailed in Pittsburgh.
Astros 9, Nationals 3 - Wandy Rodriguez won his 11th game and Carlos Corporan drove in three runs to power Houston at Washington.
Cubs 5, Mets 4 - Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run single with two outs in the top of the ninth, rallying Chicago after the Cubs blew a three-run lead in the eighth.
Dodgers 3, Giants 0 - Dana Eveland combined with two relievers to throw a five-hitter, and Los Angeles knocked host San Francisco 9 ½ games behind Arizona in the NL West.
Royals 4, Mariners 2 - Jeff Francoeur and Eric Hosmer homered and Filipe Paulino allowed two runs over seven innings to power visiting Kansas City.
