The town Health Department has purchased wheelchair ramps that can be borrowed for short periods by those with mobility issues to allow them to scale a few stairs that pose an obstacle. The idea, according to Ellen Berger, chairwoman of the town’s Commission for the Disabled, is to allow residents to attend events, restaurants, and family gatherings previously off-limits because of accessibility issues. The portable ramps are foldable and fairly light. For details, contact the Health Department at 617-730-2300. - Andreae Downs
