■ The Phillies improved to 15-2 in Vance Worley’s 17 starts this season and have won each of his last 13, their longest streak since they won a club-record 15 straight Steve Carlton starts in 1972.

■A’s lefthander Gio Gonzalez improved to 5-0 with a 0.72 ERA in six career starts against Cleveland. He hasn’t given up a run to the Indians in 27 ⅔ consecutive innings.

■The Blue Jays played a seventh straight game without manager John Farrell, who is recovering from pneumonia and won’t be with the Jays at Yankee Stadium this weekend. Bench coach Don Wakamatsu is running the team in his place.

■Three of Blue Jays rookie Brett Lawrie’s seven homers and eight of his 20 RBIs have come against the Orioles.

Brandon Inge played his 979th game at third base for the Tigers, tying Tom Brookens for third at that position on the team’s career list.

■Third baseman Adrian Beltre (hamstring) was activated from the disabled list by the Rangers and batted fifth in the lineup against the Rays.

■The Dodgers’ James Loney is 22 for 47 (.468) in his last 11 games.

■The Brewers’ Corey Hart extended his hitting streak to 14 games with his 23d home run.
