Women’s dine-out benefits Vineyard services

EDGARTOWN - The upstairs dining room at Atria was the place to be the other night, as Diane English and several other familiar female faces gathered for a private dinner benefiting Martha’s Vineyard Community Services. (The dinner was one of the items at last summer’s Possible Dreams auction, bid on by Marcy Gringlas and her daughter Sarah Greenberg.) English, the Hollywood producer-director whose credits include “Murphy Brown’’ and the movie “The Women,’’ told us she’s working on a new TV series with fellow islander Jim Belushi. She wouldn’t tell us what it’s about, but the idea was hatched here on the Vineyard. (Belushi, by the way, was nearby at The Atlantic having dinner with Trader Fred Mascolo and a couple of state troopers.) Also at the Dinner With the Women of the Vineyard were D.C. art maven Olga Hirshhorn, photographer Alison Shaw, Winnie Musoni, and actress Mary Steenburgen, who brought along houseguest, singer Kim “ Bette Davis Eyes’’ Carnes. Also there were Nashville singer Matrace Berg, who will be performing with Kenny Chesney at Gillette, Tamara Buchwald, the late Art Buchwald’s daughter-in-law, and poet Rose Styron.… . In West Tisbury, “Chronicle’’ producer Stan Leven and his wife, former “Chronicle’’ coanchor Mary Richardson, were happy to give up their table at State Road for PresidentObama, Governor Deval Patrick, and their guests. “He was incredibly gracious,’’ said Levin, who was given a table closer to the front.
