Dan Uggla belted a pair of solo homers off Carlos Zambrano to extend his hitting streak to an Atlanta-record 32 games and lead the Braves to a 10-4 home victory over the Chicago Cubs last night, although Uggla’s hitting streak was overshadowed by Zambrano’s postgame exit.

Cubs manager Mike Quade said Zambrano cleaned out his locker and “walked out’’ on the team after giving up five homers.

Quade said Zambrano was talking about ending his playing career.

“I’m really disappointed,’’ Quade said. “His locker is empty. He walked out on 24 guys. I don’t know where he’s gone or what he’s doing. “He’s talking about retiring … but I can’t have a guy walking out on 24 guys.’’

Zambrano (9-7) was ejected by plate umpire Tim Timmons in the fifth inning after throwing two inside pitches to Chipper Jones, the second going all the way to the backstop. The brushback pitches followed homers by Freddie Freeman and Uggla.

Uggla had his second straight three-hit game. “It’s not one of the things I set for a goal when I came over here,’’ he said of his streak.

Uggla went 3 for 3 and scored three times. His streak, which began on July 5, is the longest in the majors this season.

Uggla passed Rico Carty’s 31-game streak in 1970 for the longest in Atlanta Braves history when he led off the second with his 25th homer.

The Braves rolled to their fifth consecutive win after former manager Bobby Cox’s No. 6 was retired in a pregame ceremony.

“I sure hope he goes home happy,’’ said Atlanta’s Chipper Jones, who hit a three-run homer. “I’m still trying to make him proud any way I can.’’

Indians 3, Twins 2 - Matt LaPorta and Carlos Santana hit RBI doubles in the eighth inning to help Cleveland rally past visiting Minnesota.

Cleveland trailed, 2-1, when Travis Hafner singled with one out in the eighth off starter Carl Pavano. Glen Perkins (4-3) relieved and Santana hit a booming double to right-center field to score pinch runner Michael Brantley with the tying run.

With two outs, LaPorta’s blooper dropped in front of diving left fielder Ben Revere for the go-ahead run.

Tigers 5, Orioles 4 - Wilson Betemit homered, rookie Andy Dirks had a career-high four hits, and visiting Detroit overcame two home runs by J.J. Hardy to top Baltimore.

Nationals 4, Phillies 2 - Livan Hernandez pitched 6 ⅔ strong innings and drove in two runs with a pair of singles, helping visiting Washington defeat Philadelphia.

Hernandez (7-11) outpitched All-Star Cole Hamels (13-7). He gave up one unearned run and four hits.

Marlins 2, Giants 1 - Ricky Nolasco gave up one run in eight innings and host Florida snapped a seven-game losing streak.
