■The A’s Cliff Pennington extended his career-high hitting streak to 12 games.

Colby Rasmus made his Blue Jays debut, starting in center field and batting second. He went 0 for 5 with two strikeouts and was the only starter not to reach base.

■The Brewers’ Craig Counsell went 0 for 3 to extend his hitless streak to 41 at-bats, setting a franchise record for consecutive at-bats without a hit by a position player.

■The Phillies’ Jimmy Rollins snapped an 0-for-19 slump.
