Another hospital is cutting staff as it challenges state budget cuts in court.
Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua plans to lay off about 100 employees. A spokeswoman told the Eagle Tribune of Lawrence the cuts would amount to about six percent of the staff.
Elliott Health System, which runs Elliott Hospital in Manchester, announced earlier that it planned 182 layoffs along with other service cuts.
The hospitals are among ten that have filed suit in U.S. District Court over cuts in state Medicaid funding.
Other plaintiff hospitals say they’re still weighing possible layoffs, but at least one has decided not to go that route.
Officials at Lake Regions General Hospital tell The Citizen newspaper of Laconia that they won’t cut staff or other services in response to the reduced funding.
