WSBK (Channel 38) will join the 10 p.m. news race in September.
As part of its new partnership with MyNetworkTV, which will provide primetime programming on WSBK, the station plans to shift its half-hour 9 p.m. newscast to an hour later beginning Sept. 19. In that time slot, the newscast will compete with ratings powerhouse WFXT-TV (Channel 25) and WLVI-TV (Channel 56), which airs news from sister station WHDH-TV (Channel 7.)
Kate Merrill will anchor the 10 p.m. newscast on WSBK, along with meteorologist Todd Gutner and sports director Steve Burton. WSBK is the sister station of WBZ-TV (Channel 4.) Both stations are owned and operated by CBS Television.
