THE BIG BIG BUCKS ENDLESS BUMMER

Just in time for summer, Boston’s Big Big Bucks (we’re guessing one “big’’ just wasn’t enough to emphasize the enormity of their bright power-pop sound) bring us “Endless Bummer,’’ a vivacious two-sided digital single replete with punchy hooks, local references (to “smoking behind the Middle East’’), and cover art purloined from the Beach Boys’ “Endless Summer’’ greatest hits album.

There’s another cover, too: a Gary Glitter-meets-Pixies take on the Amps’ “Tipp City’’ that sounds restless and raggedly right, like the foursome are shaking off last night’s hangover and just found their guitars and car keys. The track’s a leftover from the recording sessions that produced last year’s “Crucial Schmooze’’ LP, but it makes for a nice digital flip to the sharper swerves and hairpin melodic turns that careen through “Kick Rocks.’’ Perfect for a summer drive to the destination of your choice, be it the beach, rock club, or Tipp City.

(Pre-order the single at www.thebigbigbucks.bandcamp.com.)

The Big Big Bucks host a single-release party at Middlesex Lounge Sunday with Prisoners, Babydriver, and DJ sets by Kate from Pilgrims of Sound. 9 p.m. $5. 21+ 617-868-MSEX. www.sippycupeverything.com
