CLUBS & DANCE NIGHTS

SNUG LIFE Friend of the music scene, and father of two, Kory Ambler passed away a couple years ago, but every year his friends, including DJs Knife, Tommee, Fess, and Stenny gather to throw a dance party and raise money for his family. “From his death, the idea of Snuglife Clothing was birthed,’’ says Knife, of the skate and skiwear line. “It’s a tribute to his nickname ‘Snuggles,’ and an ode to Kory’s generous lifestyle. Kory always gave selflessly to those in need.’’ July 22. 9:30 p.m. Cover: $10. 21+. Good Life Boston. 617-451-2622. www.goodlifebar.com

JANET VS. MADONNA Believe it or not there was a time back in the ’80s and ’90s when this debate had yet to be settled. (Put us firmly in the Madonna camp.) Then again, “What Have You Done for Me Lately’’ and “Escapade’’ are kind of the jams. Tough call. Think Tank and Just Got Paid … It’s Friday Night renew the feud with music from these two heroes of pop all night, including delicious dance-offs, thematic costumes, and plenty of voguing. July 22. 10 p.m. Free. 21+. 617-500-3031, www.thinktankcambridge.com

DJ BORIS This St. Petersburg-born DJ, who has played around the world, was nominated as best resident DJ at the Club World Awards, and holds it down regularly at huge parties in New York City and Miami, sets them up and knocks them down this Sunday at the cavalcade of entertainment that is this sprawling outdoor beach club. It’s a lot shorter than a trip to South Beach. July 24. 9 p.m. Cover: $35-$40. 21+. Ocean Club at Marina Bay. 617-689-0600. www.oceanclubatmarinabay.com

COOL RANCH Boston’s SPF 5000 is having quite a year, having just released its debut EP on Top Billin Records, with a second on the way. The group performs at the monthly freak-out love fest Bodega Girls Present Cool Ranch on Wednesday. “Because the Cool Ranch crowd like it filthy and nasty, we tend to make sure the scuzzy punk funk thing we do is at the epicenter of the set,’’ explains SPF 5000’s Amy Douglas. “This show is going to be one nasty, sweaty, funky, take-no-prisoners party… . It’s a 3-D composite of how you can use the best of all possible ways to showcase electronic music to make everyone feel just like they’re at a concert.’’ July 27. 10 p.m. Free. 21+.
