POP & ROCK

PAT BENATAR & NEIL GIRALDO Thirty-two years after the release of her first album, Benatar is still going strong with her husband at her side helping her rock. Expect all the hits from “Heartbreaker’’ to “Love Is a Battlefield’’ to “Invincible.’’ The diminutive firecracker doesn’t have all the high notes of her glory days, but she’s still got plenty of power. July 9, 7 p.m. Tickets: $37-$49.50. House of Blues. 800-745-3000, www.livenation.com

GOMEZ The likable Brit pop-rockers come to town on the heels of their latest release, “Whatever’s on Your Mind.’’ What’s on their mind, apparently, is more of the stealthily satisfying style - great pop melodies, dynamic instrumentation, lush production - that helped score hits like “How We Operate’’ and “See the World.’’ July 12, 7 p.m. Tickets: $22. Paradise. 800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com

VANS WARPED TOUR More than 60 bands are slated to hit the multiple stages in Mansfield over the course of this 12-hour punk-pop-rock-hip-hop-reggae fest. Must-sees include Boston’s own Street Dogs, featuring former Dropkick Murphy Mike McColgan, and Big D and the Kids Table, who are touring behind their smart new set, “For the Damned, the Dumb & the Delirious.’’ July 13, 11 a.m. Tickets: $28.50. Comcast Center.800-745-3000, www.livenation.com

FOLK & COUNTRY

PLENA LIBRE Playing up the Afro-Cuban influences at the heart of Puerto Rican music, this funky party band has a long tradition of blurring the line between genres and generations. (The group is also part of the annual La Familia Hispana Festival in Holyoke tonight.) July 8, 7:30 & 10 p.m. Tickets: $20. Regattabar. 617-395-7757, www.regattabarjazz.com

ED ASKEW A quizzical painter and songwriter who made wonderful but overlooked albums in the late 1960s, Askew could easily have been relegated to the dust bins of psych-folk history. Instead, interest in his music resurged in recent years, and the Chicago label Drag City recently rereleased one of Askew’s time-warped albums, 1984’s “Imperfiction.’’ Askew is the opening act for labelmate Bill Callahan, who has a new album, “Apocalypse.’’ July 10, 9 p.m. Tickets: $15. Brighton Music Hall. 800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com

EASTON CORBIN Rising in the ranks of contemporary country, Corbin is usually seen in the opening slot or sandwiched on a bill with other artists. For this headlining gig, it’ll be nice to see him stretch out and perform songs from last year’s self-titled debut. July 10, 8 p.m. Tickets: $30, $26 in advance. Showcase Live. 800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com
