Pinch hitter Ronny Paulino came through with a tying single off Mariano Rivera, Jason Bay drove home the winning run in the 10th inning, and the feisty New York Mets ended the Yankees’ seven-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory yesterday at Citi Field.

Playing without an ailing Jose Reyes, the Mets were shut down by Freddy Garcia for seven innings before rallying against Rivera in the ninth to avoid a Subway Series sweep.

With two outs and nobody on in the ninth, Bay walked. He went to third on Lucas Duda’s single and scored the tying run when Paulino punched a 1-and-2 delivery through the right side.

With the bases loaded in the 10th, Bay lined a single to right for the win.

Blue Jays 7, Phillies 4 - Jose Bautista hit his major league-leading 27th home run as Toronto snapped Cliff Lee’s scoreless innings streak at 34 with a win over Philadelphia at Rogers Centre.

Lee gave up a season-high seven runs - six earned - and 10 hits in 7 ⅓ innings. He walked none and struck out nine.

Marlins 6, Rangers 4 - Logan Morrison hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the eighth inning as Florida won in Arlington, Texas.

Rangers starter C.J. Wilson, picked as an All-Star by his manager earlier in the day, struck out nine but left with one out in the eighth and the tying run at third base. Florida got even and went ahead against three relievers.

Tigers 6, Giants 3 - Magglio Ordonez hit a go-ahead, two-run single with two outs in the seventh inning and Detroit went on to beat San Francisco at Comerica Park.

Reds 7, Indians 5 - Edgar Renteria hit his first homer since his World Series MVP performance for the Giants, helping Cincinnati break out of its offensive slump and beat Cleveland at Great American Ball Park.

Twins 9, Brewers 7 - Danny Valencia’s bases-loaded single capped a four-run seventh inning as Minnesota rallied past Milwaukee at Target Field. Valencia is 8 for 13 with the bases loaded this season.

Royals 16, Rockies 8 - Melky Cabrera homered twice and drove in five runs as Kansas City tied a team record with 12 extra-base hits and outslugged Colorado outfielder Carlos Gonzalez at Coors Field.

Gonzalez homered and tied a career high with six RBIs. But he left in the seventh inning after he ran into the center-field wall and injured his right wrist.

Rays 8, Cardinals 3 - Johnny Damon drove in four runs and Jeremy Hellickson pitched into the eighth as Tampa Bay thumped St. Louis at Tropicana Field.

Orioles 5, Braves 4 - Mark Reynolds hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning, Nick Markakis had a career-high five hits, and Baltimore snapped a five-game skid by edging Atlanta at Turner Field.

Cubs 3, White Sox 1 - Veteran Rodrigo Lopez allowed two hits in seven shutout innings and Aramis Ramirez homered at Wrigley Field as the Cubs topped their cross-town Chicago rivals.

Mariners 3, Padres 1 - Blake Beavan pitched seven innings of one-run ball in his major league debut and Ichiro Suzuki had two hits and scored twice for host Seattle.

Athletics 7, Diamondbacks 2 - At Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, Conor Jackson and Scott Sizemore each hit a two-run homer and All-Star Gio Gonzalez struck out seven to lead Oakland past Arizona.

Pirates 10, Nationals 2 - Pittsburgh scored three in the first and five in the second and Kevin Correia earned his 11th win by beating Washington at Nationals Park.

Angels 3, Dodgers 1 - Russell Branyan hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the seventh inning as Ervin Santana pitched into the eighth for his first victory in over a month as the Los Angeles Angels won at home.
