Glass containers to replace plastic

Short Orders

June 29, 2011

Plastic food-storage containers often clutter drawers and shelves, and with concerns about chemicals in plastics leaching into foods, it may be time to replace them. A good choice is the new Ziploc VersaGlass containers made from tempered glass (50 percent stronger than ordinary glass) with lids that snap on and off easily. In three shapes and six sizes ($4.20 to $8.99), the containers can store 1.5 to 8 cups of food, and are designed to go from fridge or freezer directly to microwave or oven — and then to the table. The clear glass is useful in letting you see all the good stuff you have leftover to cobble together into a new meal. Available at Stop & Shop locations. ANN TRIEGER KURLAND
