Shares of Abiomed Inc. fell, sinking as much as 7.1 percent, after the company received a letter from the Food and Drug Administration accusing Abiomed of marketing one of its Impella heart pumps without marketing clearance. Danvers-based Abiomed made several “objectionable’’ claims about the potential uses for the Impella device in an advertisement last September in Cath Lab Digest, according to the FDA. An Abiomed spokeswoman said the firm is “working with the FDA to ensure all of our promotional materials comply with the agency moving forward.’’
