As profit rises 32%, FedEx is optimistic

FedEx Corp., the second-largest package-shipping company, said quarterly profit excluding some items rose 32 percent from a year earlier to $1.75 a share. Analysts surveyed by Bloomberg estimated $1.72, on average. FedEx said it expects global economic growth to continue. Analysts consider FedEx and UPS Corp. results important economic indicators because their customers are all kinds of businesses.
