Judy Shepard, whose son Matthew’s murder prompted Congress to pass a federal hate crime law, spent a few emotional days in Boston. Shepard was brought to town by the Anti-Defamation League New England to meet with Governor Deval Patrick and law enforcement officials about the transgender rights bill. Her audience included ADL New England board chair Michael Sheetz, US Attorney Carmen Ortiz, ADL New England head Derrek Shulman, AG Martha Coakley, and FBI special agent Richard DesLauriers.
