Carl Crawford has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.
"The medical people throught at best that it was going to be 10-14 days," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said this afternoon. "So that was kind of a no-brainer."
Francona said he talked to Crawford this morning and that Crawford "gets it." Josh Reddick was called up today to fill the roster spot.
The injury occured at some point while Crawford was running to first base to beat out an infield single in the first inning of last night's game against the Brewers, but even Crawford isn't sure when he strained his muscle.
"That's what I was trying to figure out," Crawford said last night. "I don't really know. I know it was somewhere when I was approaching the bag. I'm not sure when it actually happened."
We can expect to see more of Darnell McDonald, Mike Cameron, Drew Sutton and Reddick in Crawford's absence.
