Several Dorchester-based projects won approval from the Boston Redevelopment Authority's board last night, including a health and education center, more than 100 affordable housing units, and a comprehensive plan for development along a seaside enclave.

The health and education center, a partnership between the Codman Square Health Center and the Codman Academy Public Charter School, would include the construction of an LEED Gold certified, 34,000-square-foot addition onto the health center, which will house additional clinical services and classroom space. The project, which will begin construction in August, received a $7.95 million federal grant last year.

The Quincy Heights project will consist of 129 public housing units in Grove Hall. Nine existing buildings will be renovated and offer 80 new affordable units. Eleven new buildings will also be constructed, to create 49 new units. All told, the $53.1 million project proposed by Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation and Quincy Geneva Housing Corporation, will total156,817 square feet.

Finally, the Columbia Point Master Plan, a development document that is the result of more than three years of public review, was approved by the board last night. It lays out a comprehensive development plan for the neighborhood bounded by Dorchester Bay and Interstate 93.
