“30 Rock’’ actor Tracy Morgan apologized yesterday for telling an audience in Nashville that if his son were gay, he would “pull out a knife and stab’’ him. In a statement, the comedian told his fans and the gay and lesbian community that he’s sorry for his “choice of words’’ during a June 3 appearance at the Ryman Auditorium. The Ryman issued its own apology afterward for Morgan’s behavior. The actor’s outburst triggered heated comment on Twitter over the past few days. “I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others,’’ Morgan said. “While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.’’ The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation condemned Morgan’s comments and demanded he remove anti-gay remarks from his show “and send a strong message that anti-gay violence is not something to joke about.’’ (AP)
