Katie Couric and ABC announced that her new talk show will debut in September 2012. The former “CBS Evening News’’ anchor and “Today’’ host will have a part ownership stake in her show, which reunites her with former NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker. Eight stations covering nearly one-quarter of the nation’s population have agreed to air it in the 3 p.m. weekday time slot. (AP)

Charge dismissed

Prosecutors dismissed an unlawful entry charge against the actress who played Pocahontas in the film “The New World.’’ Q’orianka Kilcher, 21, and her mother, Saskia Kilcher, were arrested last June after the actress chained herself to the White House fence and her mother poured a black substance over her. The actress, whose father is a Peruvian Indian, was protesting the sale of land in Peru to oil companies. (AP)

No appeal for Snipes

The Supreme Court yesterday refused to hear an appeal from actor Wesley Snipes to get his conviction and prison sentence on tax charges overturned. Snipes, convicted in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file income tax returns, started a three-year term in a federal minimum security prison in December. (AP)

Kingston upgraded Sean Kingston is breathing on his own and walking in a Miami hospital, according to his publicist. Joseph Carozza said the singer’s condition has been upgraded to serious more than a week after he crashed his watercraft into a bridge off Miami Beach. (AP)

Gaga in pride parade

Lady Gaga has accepted an invitation to participate in a gay pride parade in Rome’s Circus Maximus, the closing event of 2011 Euro Pride. The US ambassador to Italy, David Thorne, said in a statement yesterday he is “very proud to have an Italian-American artist of her stature’’ come to the Italian capital. (AP)
