Sunday, June 5, is World Oceans Day and the New England Aquarium will hold family-based activities, sustainable seafood cooking demonstrations, habitat restoration exhibits and more along Boston’s Harborwalk.

The event — named from the Dr. Suess book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish - will give facts on oil spill recovery, green products and an Aquarium program for teens that helps them live greener lives.

Four local chefs from Taranta Restaurant, Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel and the New England Aquarium will serve up delectable fish during the day and at 4 p.m. Barton Seaver, Esquire Magazine’s 2009 chef of the year and National Geographic Oceans Fellow will offer a tasting of sustainable seafood from his new cookbook For Cod and Country.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine on the Harborwalk behind the New England Aquarium, Central Wharf, Boston. The event is free and open to the public. For more information visit www.neaq.org/oceansday.

Aquarium partners exhibiting at the celebration include Oceans Approved LLC, MIT Sea Grant, Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies, Gortons Seafood, Polar Beverages, and the Charles River Watershed Association.
