Police and National Guard troops in Springfield are knocking on doors around the city, looking for anyone who might be injured or need help in the aftermath of the tornado that slammed into the city.
Seven people remain hospitalized at Baystate Medical Center. The hospital says three people have injuries serious enough to require long-term rehabilitation.
Sergeant John Delaney says it’s remarkable there are no confirmed deaths from the storm in the city.
Roofs have been ripped off buildings and several streets remain closed.
