Actor Patrick Dempsey will race at Lime Rock

Actor Patrick Dempsey is the latest Hollywood star to get behind the wheel at Lime Rock Park.

The Grey’s anatomy actor, whose character is known as McDreamy to fans, will be racing during the annual Grand-Am Memorial Day Classic on Monday.

Dempsey has been racing in the Grand-Am Rolex GT series for three years, has never before raced at Lime Rock.

Past Memorial Day races have attracted celebrity drivers including Paul Newman and Tom Cruise.

Fans are allowed in the paddock at Lime Rock and see Dempsey there. The actor also is expected to participate in the Grand-Am pre-race “Fan Walk’’ in pit lane half an hour before the race.
