Phillies 10, Reds 4 — Cliff Lee (4-4) drove in three runs and worked eight effective innings, leading host Philadelphia over Cincinnati.
Raul Ibanez hit a three-run homer for the Phillies, who took three of four from the Reds. Both teams were playing with little rest following Wednesday’s 19-inning marathon, which ended at 1:19 a.m., after 6 hours 11 minutes and 600 total pitches.
Every Phillie had at least one hit yesterday, including Chase Utley, who is 2 for 14 since returning from the disabled list earlier this week.
Orioles 6, Royals 5 — Vladimir Guerrero drove in Robert Andino with a single in the 12th inning, allowing Baltimore to beat visiting Kansas City for its season-high fifth straight victory.
Nolan Reimold had four hits, including two homers, and four RBIs for the Orioles, who squandered a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the 11th.
White Sox 3, Blue Jays 1 — Juan Pierre’s ninth-inning infield single drove in the tiebreaking run and visiting Chicago beat Toronto for its 13th win in 19 games.
Jesse Crain (2-1) pitched one-third of an inning for the win and Sergio Santos finished the ninth for his eighth save in nine opportunities.
Diamondbacks 6, Rockies 3 — Micah Owings pitched five effective innings for his first win in more than a year and Miguel Montero hit a three-run homer, helping Arizona beat Colorado in Denver.
The Rockies have lost seven of nine to drop below .500 for the first time since Opening Day.
Cubs 9, Mets 3 — Carlos Zambrano (5-2) pitched six strong innings and went 3 for 3 at the plate and drove in a run to help host Chicago rout New York.
The Mets lost starter R.A. Dickey to a heel injury in the third when he fell trying to cover first base. New York’s bullpen allowed eight hits and seven runs.
Athletics 4, Angels 3 — Brett Anderson tossed three-hit ball over eight scoreless innings and Adam LaRoche drove in three runs to help last-place Oakland beat host Los Angeles.
