Eleven soldiers who fought in the Civil War will be honored Saturday in Revere.

The soldiers, who are buried at the Rumney Marsh Burial Grounds, will be remembered at a 10 a.m. ceremony. The special Memorial Day weekend celebration was slated because this year marks the 150th anniversary of the war that tore the country apart.

The 11 soldiers include Charles James Bibber, who won a Congressional Medal of Honor for his service aboard the USS Agawam.

The city of Revere is sponsoring the event in conjunction with the Rumney Marsh Burial Grounds Renovation Committee. Revere Mayor Thomas G. Ambrosino, House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo and an aide from Senator Scott Brown’s office will be speaking, in addition to retired military officials. Civil War reenactors will also participate in the event.

In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at the American Legion in Revere.
