POP & ROCK

RANDY HOUSER A spirited performer with an infectious laugh and soulful voice, the Mississippi-bred Houser produced one of the best country releases of 2010 in “They Call Me Cadillac,’’ a terrific collection of barn-burners, ballads, and a touch of gospel fire that showcased Houser’s humor and heart. (This show was originally scheduled for April 14. All tickets for the original show will be honored.) May 26, 8 p.m. Tickets: $25. Showcase Live. 800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com

MAN MAN These experimental Philly rockers have an appreciation for the brightest colors and the darkest depths as they shift from the wacky to the tragic, from zippy pop craft to cacophonous squall. Their latest effort, “Life Fantastic,’’ is their most streamlined yet. Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers handle the warmup duties. May 28, 9 p.m. Tickets: $16.50. Paradise.800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com

AUGUSTANA Think this pop-rock outfit from Cali-by-way-of-Illinois will come to Boston and not play their biggest hit, “Boston’’? Doubtful. We used to think they were a perfectly pleasant quintet but were impressed with Augustana’s versatility after watching them mix it up on the Counting Crows caravan a few summers back. The band is hitting the road in support of its self-titled third release. May 28, 5 p.m. Tickets: $20. House of Blues.800-745-3000, www.livenation.com

FOLK, WORLD & COUNTRY

CAMPFIRE Club Passim’s annual Memorial Day tradition is a good way to discover a world of contemporary folk and Americana acts. This year’s lineup, featuring marathon performances from Friday to Monday evening, abounds with highlights: chamber-folk duo Tall Heights (Friday, 11:30 p.m.), local bluegrass picker Kellen Zakula (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.), Brazilian-tinged trio Só Sol (Sunday, 2:15 p.m.), and ukulele-strumming songstress Ariel Rubin (Monday, 9:45 p.m.). May 27-30, various showtimes. Weekend pass: $30. Day pass: $10. Club Passim. 617-492-7679, www.clubpassim.com

STORNOWAY With Mumford & Sons making inroads into the US market, the next indie-folk export from England primed for such success very well could (and should) be Stornoway. Released earlier this week, the band’s new EP, “4AD Session,’’ is a fitting introduction to Stornoway’s majestic take on orchestral folk. May 28, 9 p.m. Tickets: $13. Brighton Music Hall. 800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com
