David Ferreira and Milton Rodriguez each scored a goal, and FC Dallas set a Major League Soccer record for the longest unbeaten streak in a season at 19 games last night with a 2-2 tie against the Colorado Rapids in Frisco, Texas.

FC Dallas (12-2-14) also equaled the overall league mark set by Columbus, which won or tied 19 straight games over the 2004-05 seasons. Dallas also set the season record for ties, a mark previously held by four teams.

Jeff Cunningham entered the game as a substitute in the 72d minute for FC Dallas but failed to score, remaining tied with DC United’s Jamie Moreno for most career goals in MLS with 132.

FC Dallas scored twice within a 10-minute span in the first half for a 2-1 lead. Ferreira dribbled around Rapids defender Danny Earls and fired a shot from 12 yards away in the 37th minute.

Jeff Larentowicz scored for the Rapids (11-8-9) in the 13th and 51st minutes, tying it at 2 when he scored on a header from 6 yards away off a corner kick by Jaime Smith.

Red Bulls 0, Real Salt Lake 0 — New York tied defending champion Real Salt Lake in Harrison, N.J., to hold on to first place in the Eastern Conference.

The Red Bulls (14-8-6) were playing without starting goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul and midfielder Dane Richards, both away on international duty. They still controlled most of the action but couldn’t score through a strong Real defense.

Real Salt Lake (14-4-10) remained in second place in the Western Conference. Real was the last team with a .500 or better record the Red Bulls will play until the postseason.

Unlike the Red Bulls’ last game against the Wizards, Thierry Henry got the ball consistently down the left side in the first half. But his passes fell wide of their mark, and Real defenders Robbie Russell and Jamison Olave kept him from getting off any shots.

Real’s Andy Williams and Alvaro Saborio and Red Bulls midfielder Rafael Marquez hit posts in the first half. Marquez broke behind the defense in the second half for a solid chance, but Nat Borchers slid across to break up the threat. Juan Pablo Angel barely missed on a header late in the second half.

Sounders 2, Wizards 1 — Sanna Nyassi and Alvaro Fernandez each scored a second-half goal, and Seattle secured a playoff berth with a victory over host Kansas City.

Counting his two goals in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Columbus in the US Open Cup title game, Nyassi has scored four times in the last eight days for Seattle (13-9-6).

Kansas City (9-12-6), which got a late penalty-kick goal from Davy Arnaud, lost its third straight and moved to the verge of playoff elimination. The Wizards must win their last three games, two on the road, and hope Colorado loses its final two.

Earthquakes 2, United 0 — Chris Wondolowski scored twice and visiting San Jose secured its first playoff appearance since its rebirth with a victory over D.C. United.

The Earthquakes, who reformed in 2008 after the original team became the Houston Dynamo in 2006, clinched a playoff spot after Kansas City lost to Seattle.

United (6-19-3) set a club record for defeats in a season. They went 8-18-6 in 2000.

Wondolowski scored his 13th and 14th goals to move within one of the club’s season goal scoring record.

Chivas USA 3, Toronto FC 0 — Jorge Flores, Jesus Padilla, and Rodolfo Espinoza scored in the second half to give Chivas USA a victory over Toronto FC in Carson, Calif.

Zach Thornton made three saves for his sixth shutout as Chivas USA (8-15-4) broke a three-game losing streak. Toronto FC (8-13-7) lost its third consecutive game.
