UNH given the boot by Maine

Brian Harvey kicked a 37-yard field goal in overtime, giving Maine a 16-13 win over No. 15 New Hampshire last night in Orono, Maine.

UNH began overtime with possession, but on second and 11 from the Maine 26, R.J. Toman’s pass was intercepted by Jerron McMillian.

Maine (2-3, 1-1 CAA) then ran it three times, setting up the kick. It was Harvey’s second field goal attempt of the game after missing a 46-yarder in the first quarter. He also had an extra-point attempt blocked in the second quarter.

The Black Bears trailed, 13-6, after Mike McArthur’s 47-yard field goal with 2:47 left in the fourth quarter, but tied it on the next possession. Warren Smith threw a 16-yard TD pass to Derek Buttles to force OT with 1:12 left.

Toman threw for 304 yards and a TD for UNH (2-3, 0-2) and three interceptions on 26-for-38 passing.

William & Mary 31, Villanova 24 — Jonathan Grimes rushed for three touchdowns and the Tribe held off a fourth-quarter rally by the No. 2-ranked Wildcats in Williamsburg, Va.

Grimes rushed for touchdowns of 8, 4, and 6 yards as the No. 7 Tribe (4-1, 2-1 CAA) built a 31-10 lead.

Dante Cook returned an interception 84 yards for another Tribe touchdown, and Drake Kuhn kicked a 42-yard field goal.

Villanova (3-2, 1-1) closed within a touchdown as Chris Whitney ran for a 4-yard touchdown and passed 47 yards to Norman White for another, but William & Mary recovered an onside kick with 2:10 remaining.

Grimes finished with 83 yards on 21 carries, and Michael Paulus completed 20 of 28 passes for 211 yards.

Delaware 13, James Madison 10 — Mike Perry kicked a 28-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to help the fifth-ranked Blue Hens snap a three-game skid at James Madison.

Perry’s kick capped a 14-play, 69-yard drive that lasted 6:42 for the Blue Hens (5-0, 2-0).

Delaware, which had 16 first downs to 12 by the Dukes (3-1, 0-1), had five on the final drive.

Trevor Sasek completed four passes and ran for 12 yards as the Blue Hens marched down field for the win. Sasek came in for Pat Devlin, who suffered a concussion on Delaware’s second play. Sasek finished with 124 yards on 13-for-21 passing.

Richmond 41, Coastal Carolina 19 — Tyler Kirchoff rushed for four touchdowns and the host Spiders (2-2) had three straight fourth-quarter interceptions to defeat the Chanticleers (1-4).
