David Price became the American League’s first eight-game winner, Carl Crawford hit a grand slam and the Tampa Bay Rays rallied in the ninth inning again, beating the Blue Jays, 7-3, last night in Toronto.

Price (8-2) allowed two runs, none earned, and nine hits in eight innings. He walked none and struck out three.

Tampa Bay erased a 2-1 lead in the ninth. It was the third time this season the Rays have won when trailing after eight innings. Sean Rodriguez and Ben Zobrist opened the ninth against Shaun Marcum (5-2) with singles before pinch hitter John Jaso grounded into a fielder’s choice, with Zobrist forced out at second.

Navarro followed with a bunt up the first-base line, and Lyle Overbay’s throw home was too late to get the Rodriguez, who dived behind catcher John Buck and swiped his hand across the plate to score the tying run.

Braves 2, Phillies 1 — Omar Infante lined a two-out, run-scoring single in the eighth inning to back Derek Lowe’s best outing of the season, leading host Atlanta to its eighth straight win.

The Braves finished a three-game sweep of Philadelphia and increased their lead in the East Division to 2 1/2 games as they headed off on an 11-game road trip that could determine if they’re a true contender for their first playoff appearance since 2005.

Lowe (8-4) went eight innings, allowing six hits and the only Philadelphia run.

Yankees 9, Orioles 1 — Nick Swisher and Curtis Granderson hit two-run doubles in the second inning to back another stingy start by Phil Hughes, and host New York handed Baltimore its seventh straight loss.

Robinson Cano hit a two-run homer in the seventh and ran his hitting streak to 16 games for New York, which had 15 hits.

Jorge Posada returned to the lineup after sitting out since May 16 with a broken bone in his right foot and went 1 for 3 with a walk.

Mariners 2, Twins 1 — Ryan Langerhans scored from second base on an infield single by Ichiro Suzuki with two outs in 10th and host Seattle won its first extra-inning game of the season.

Dodgers 1, Diamondbacks 0 — Garret Anderson hit an RBI single with two outs in the 14th inning and host Los Angeles handed Arizona its 10th straight loss.

Padres 5, Mets 1 — Adrian Gonzalez hit a grand slam with one out in the 11th inning to lift host San Diego over New York, which wasted another strong performance by Johan Santana.

Cardinals 4, Reds 1 — Chris Carpenter beat Cincinnati for the eighth straight time, allowing four hits in eight innings, as host St. Louis pulled into a first-place tie with the Reds in the NL Central.

Angels 7, Royals 2 — Torii Hunter homered and drove in three runs, and Scott Kazmir bounced back from a rocky start in his previous outing to lead visiting Los Angeles over Kansas City.

Rangers 9, White Sox 5 — Matt Treanor homered and drove in a career-high four runs, and Texas topped host Chicago.

Astros 5, Nationals 1 — Carlos Lee hit a two-run home run, Wandy Rodriguez snapped his three-game losing streak, and host Houston routed Washington.

Brewers 7, Marlins 4 — Yovani Gallardo homered for the second time this season and won his sixth straight decision as Milwaukee held off host Florida to snap a three-game skid.

Giants 4, Rockies 1 — Aaron Rowand hit a go-ahead two-run double in the fifth inning and host San Francisco backed starter Matt Cain with enough offense to avoid a three-game sweep by Colorado.

The Chicago Cubs-Pirates game was postponed because of unplayable field conditions at PNC Park in Pittsburgh after a rain delay of 3 hours 12 minutes. The game will be made up Monday at 12:35 p.m.
