Live like you're in the big 'City'

Unless you’ve been in a media blackout, you already know that “Sex and the City 2’’ hit theaters last night at midnight. If that makes you feel like celebrating with your closest pals, check out these suggestions — inspired by the series — for a perfectly fabulous day or night in our city. From cocktails to cupcakes, puppies to Post-Its, the options are endless.

SIP A (NEW) SIGNATURE DRINK The Cosmopolitan played a featured role on “Sex and the City.’’ But after six seasons and two movies, wouldn’t the women tire of vodka, triple sec, cranberry, and lime juice? We asked Eastern Standard bar manager Jackson Cannon (a “huge fan’’ of the show) for some ideas. He recommended the Blueberry Thrill ($10, pictured), made with house-infused blueberry gin, lemon juice, and cardamom syrup. Something tells us that Samantha would like the name. If the “gal pals have grown up and moved to whiskey,’’ Cannon wrote in an e-mail, they could try the Prospect Park ($10), a drink made with Rittenhouse rye, Aperol, maraschino liqueur, and Punt e Mes vermouth, and named for the verdant spot in Brooklyn. RIDE THE FERRY Just as the “Sex and the City’’ crew rode the Staten Island Ferry — to attend the New York City Fire Department’s calendar contest, you’ll recall — your posse can pack a picnic and take a scenic ferry trip to the Boston Harbor Islands. Although you probably won’t encounter any hunky firefighters, you can watch old-timey Civil War-era baseball games at Fort Warren on Georges Island or partake in free hatha yoga classes on Spectacle Island this summer. Ferries to Georges and Spectacle islands leave from Long Wharf in Boston. See the website for the schedule. $14, $10 seniors, $8 ages 3-11. 617-223-8666.www.harborexpress.com/harborislands

SHOW OFF YOUR JIMMY CHOOS (OR DSW FAVES) When Carrie is denied a loan in season four, she laments: “I’ve spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes.’’ It’s fitting that this quote appears on the website of Hello Stiletto, a local shoe fanatics social club that puts on fashion shows and fetes. Slip into your strappy leopard-print Louboutins or Payless wedges to see “Sex and the City 2’’ at Legacy Place’s Showcase Cinema de Lux with fellow fashionistas on June 8. You can even sip a cocktail during the movie. See website for all upcoming events. 21+. Time TBA. Showcase Cinema de Lux, 670 Legacy Place, Dedham. 781-632-2067.www.shoeclub.us
