WHIP IT

(Comcast Movies: All Movies) This comedy about a Texas girl (Ellen Page, pictured) who discovers roller derby marks the directing debut of Drew Barrymore, who has so thoroughly laced the movie with her own lunatic affections for women and the human race in general that it ought to be sold as an antidepressant. With Marcia Gay Harden, Kristen Wiig, Alia Shawkat, Juliette Lewis, and the director as a stoner derbyist. Shauna Cross adapted the smart script from her novel. (PG-13; runs through July 25)

TAKING WOODSTOCK

(Comcast Movies: All Movies) Ang Lee’s movie explains how Woodstock came to pass. It doesn’t get close to the concert, hanging back for droll shenanigans between the son and parents who run the hotel where the concert organizers stay. Some of it is funny. Some of it just sits there. It’s all this close to being a beach movie. (R; runs through May 31) WESLEY MORRIS

POST GRAD

(Comcast Movies: All Movies) Recent college grad Ryden Malby has a plan: Get a job at a top publishing firm and buy a swanky apartment in downtown LA. But after she finds her plan shattered by the ruthless job market, she moves back in with her eccentric family. It’s a disjointed tale that spirals far from the topic at hand. (PG-13; runs through July 25) LAURA BENNETT
