Sentencing postponed

Rap star Lil Wayne’s sentencing in a New York gun case was postponed yesterday, because he needs to finish a string of dental surgeries before he goes to jail. Lil Wayne, one of music’s biggest sellers, is poised to spend as much as a year in jail under a plea deal. Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty in October to a charge of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, admitting he illegally had a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus. Sentencing now is scheduled for March 2.

Actor discloses illness



Louis Gossett Jr. said yesterday he is being treated for prostate cancer. The Oscar-winning actor said it was caught early and he expects to make a full recovery. Gossett, 73, said he is going public because there is not enough emphasis in the African-American community on fighting it.

Jolie in Haiti



Angelina Jolie began two days of meetings with Haiti earthquake victims yesterday in her role as a goodwill ambassador for the UN refugee agency. The actress met with UN officials in Port-au-Prince and visited an SOS Villages camp for orphans outside the capital, where she was cheered by Haitians yelling, “Angie! Angie!’’ Jolie also toured a Doctors Without Borders hospital in a Port-au-Prince suburb.

Lawsuit is settled



A judge yesterday dismissed a civil lawsuit filed against a Black Eyed Peas manager who punched blogger Perez Hilton in a nightclub last year. Attorneys for Hilton and Peas’ manager Liborio Molina announced they had reached a settlement.
