KINGSTON - A radical Muslim cleric who served time in a British jail for inciting murder and stirring racial hatred has arrived in Jamaica, the second time he was deported to his native country. Abdullah el-Faisal arrived in Kingston by private jet Friday night after he traveled from Burkina Faso to Antigua via Cape Verde, authorities said. It is unclear where Faisal will live. Deputy police chief Glenmore Hinds said Friday that police will maintain surveillance on him but did not provide specifics.

UN climate panel chief will not resign

NEW DELHI - The head of a panel of United Nations climate scientists said yesterday that he would not resign despite a recent admission that a panel report warning Himalayan glaciers could be gone by 2035 was hundreds of years off. The claim, made in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s voluminous, Nobel-winning report, came in a paragraph with several errors. Data indicate the ice could melt by 2350.

150 Muslims killed, rights group says

JOS - An international human rights group is calling on Nigerian officials to investigate reports that at least 150 Muslims were killed in a central Nigerian town. Human Rights Watch yesterday cited reports of a massacre in a town south of Jos, where fighting broke out between Christians and Muslims about a week ago. Witnesses said that armed men attacked on Tuesday and that some of the victims were burned alive. One official said that the bodies of 22 young children had been recovered.
