A person with direct knowledge of the complaints told the AP that James, while unable to practice with a concussion, twice was forced to stand in a small, dark place for hours while the team practiced.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the complaint.
James was injured Dec. 16 and the next day was diagnosed with a concussion by team doctors, the person said.
Craig James was scheduled to announce the Alamo Bowl from San Antonio. ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said James no longer will work the game.
Georgia prevails
Joe Cox
threw two touchdown passes, Caleb King added two rushing scores, and Georgia beat mistake-prone Texas A&M, 44-20, in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La.
Cox hit Aron White on touchdown passes of 24 and 2 yards in the second half as the Bulldogs (8-5) pulled away for their fourth straight bowl victory. It was the fourth straight postseason loss for the Aggies (6-7), who have not won a bowl since 2001.
Brooks may leave
Following a 21-13 loss to Clemson Sunday night in the Music City Bowl, Kentucky coach Rich Brooks said he’s “80 percent’’ sure he’s not coming back. He plans to think about his next move, talk with his family, and make a final decision within the week.
The 68-year-old Brooks led the Wildcats to a 7-6 record this season and 39-47 mark in seven seasons. If it was his final game, his career college record will be 130-156-4 in 25 seasons, including 18 at Oregon.
Last January, Kentucky announced offensive coordinator Joker Phillips will take over as coach when Brooks steps down.
