Guerin, who turned 39 last week, missed by an assist of having the so-called Gordie Howe hat trick - a goal, an assist, and a fight. He fought in the third period with Ryan Getzlaf, who is 14 years younger, trading several punches before Guerin put the Ducks’ alternate captain on his back to earn one of the night’s loudest ovations from the sellout crowd of 17,052.
Guerin’s fifth goal of the season came 5:13 into the first period and halted a streak of 30 straight unsuccessful Penguins power plays that began Oct. 30.
