The Celtics also will be missing Tony Allen (ankle surgery), Brian Scalabrine (ankle sprain), and Bill Walker (knee surgery) tonight.
Ray Allen, who sustained a cut over his eye during practice Saturday, trained at full speed and is expected to be in the starting lineup.
Davis arrived at practice but complained of pain in his hand, and was dismissed to undergo an examination, according to Rivers.
Davis’s mishap continued a recent series of injuries resulting from strange circumstances. Scalabrine was injured stepping on a cameraman in an exhibition game in New York last Tuesday and Allen was hit by a Kendrick Perkins elbow in a practice drill Saturday.
Davis, who attended Louisiana State University, averaged 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in 76 games last season.
He really came on in the playoffs, though, averaging 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in 14 contests.
He hit the winning shot in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series against Orlando as the clock expired.
