Rather suit dismissed

A New York court yesterday dismissed Dan Rather’s $70 million breach of contract lawsuit against CBS Corp., noting that the network continued to pay the anchor $6 million a year even after he left the evening news broadcast. Rather sued CBS and its top executives in 2007, claiming he had been removed from his “CBS Evening News’’ anchor post over a report that examined President George W. Bush’s military service.

Kate goes it alone

“Jon & Kate Plus 8’’ will soon be “Kate Plus Eight.’’ The TLC network announced yesterday that its hit reality show is adapting to the split up of Kate and Jon Gosselin. The renamed “Kate Plus Eight,’’ which begins Nov. 2, will continue to chronicle the lives of the Gosselin kids (5-year-old sextuplets and 8-year-old twins) but will also focus on Kate’s role as a single mother.

Drug-related death

DJ AM, whose real name was Adam Goldberg, died accidentally from a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs and cocaine, the medical examiner’s office ruled yesterday. The toxicology report showed the 36-year-old, who died Aug. 28, had in his system cocaine, OxyContin, Hydrocodone or Vicodin, antianxiety drugs Xanax and Ativan, Klonopin, which also controls anger, Benadryl, and Levamisole, a drug apparently used to cut cocaine.
