D.J. Carrasco, pressed into his first start of the season when the White Sox traded Clayton Richard to San Diego, gave up three runs in the first, keyed by Mark Teixeira’s RBI double.
Yankees starter Sergio Mitre gave one run back in the first and Jim Thome’s two-run single capped a three-run second.
Quentin hit his 10th homer for a 5-3 lead in the third. But Eric Hinske hit a two-run homer to tie it in the fourth.
Phillies 5, Giants 1 - Cliff Lee pitched a four-hitter, carrying a no-hit bid into the sixth inning and even adding two hits with his bat, and visiting Philadelphia felt an immediate impact two days after acquiring the lefthander from Cleveland.
Jayson Werth homered to put Philadelphia ahead early and added a two-run single in the seventh.
Lee tossed his 11th career complete game, fourth this season, and third in four starts. Lee’s line: one run, six strikeouts, two walks, 109 pitches, and 78 strikes. Lee faced the minimum through five and didn’t allow a hit until Juan Uribe doubled with one out in the sixth.
Dodgers 5, Braves 0 - Jason Schmidt gave up one hit in his longest start in more than two years and Andre Ethier hit a homer and drove in four runs to power Los Angeles past host Atlanta.
Schmidt (2-1) walked five and struck out three in six innings, his longest start since going six innings at San Diego on June 5, 2007. He made his third start of the season after missing 2008 following surgery on his right shoulder.
Cardinals 4, Astros 3 - Matt Holliday had four hits for the second time in his eight games with St. Louis and scored the go-ahead run on Rick Ankiel’s eighth-inning single to beat visiting Houston.
Angels 11, Twins 5 - Howie Kendrick’s pinch-hit RBI single started Los Angeles’ six-run 11th and helped the visiting Angels record their major league-leading 34th comeback victory.
Indians 6, Tigers 5 - Jamey Carroll’s RBI single in the 13th won it for host Cleveland and Tomo Ohka, the Indians’ sixth reliever, pitched three scoreless innings for his first win since April 29, 2007, when he was with Toronto.
