Looking for other camps that cater to special interests and special needs? Here are a few.

Circus Smirkus Camp: Run by an international youth circus, Smirkus provides a three-ring immersion in the circus arts: clowning, juggling, trapeze, stiltwalking, unicycle riding, etc. Held on the campus of Sterling College in Craftsbury Common, Vt., the camp offers day and residential programs for all levels, beginners to advanced. The Whale Camp: Situated on Grand Manan Island off the Maine coast, in the Bay of Fundy, this marine science camp offers an opportunity to study marine mammals (whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals) and birds up close and in their natural habitat. (www.whalecamp .com, 800-549-4253)

Zeno Mountain Farm Camp: Inspired by their association with Camp Jabberwocky on Martha’s Vineyard, a group of alumni recently established a summer camp in Lincoln, Vt., serving, as their website puts it, “people with Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, law degrees, autism, a love of art, teaching certificates, Cognitive Delay, carpentry skills, Williams Syndrome, a willingness to dance in public, and Spina Bifida.’’ (www.zenomoun tainfarm.org, 802-453-4663)
