QuileuteDays: If you are a thoughtful and understanding parent, you’ll take your kids to Forks, where the attractive teen vampires in “Twilight’’ supposedly roam. Much of the “Twilight’’ series focuses on Quileute land and La Push, which is why your kids will enjoy this celebration of legends, crafts, native dances, and fireworks. BrickFair D.C. LEGOFan Fest: This festival bills itself as a gathering for AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGOs). You can shop for custom LEGO blocks, play with them, and see 12,000 square feet of LEGO structures. To call the displays “structures’’ is an understatement. LEGO architects often build full cities, battle scenes, working trains, and airports. The festival says you can get through most of the displays in about an hour and a half, which means there will be time for other capital-area tourism during your trip. Street Scene: In the scheme of things, $122 isn’t that much money, especially for access to about 25 of the world’s most popular acts. This year’s lineup for the annual two-day block party includes M.I.A., Black Eyed Peas, Deerhunter, Modest Mouse, Girl Talk, Cake, and Sharon Jones. The list goes on, and includes something for fans of just about every genre. This is the 25th anniversary of the festival, so you can expect surprises. 14th Avenue, between L and K streets. $122 for two-day pass. www.street-scene.com.

Shriekfest 2009: This film festival works as a nice prelude to Halloween. The event has a mission of finding and promoting new horror talent, so you can expect to see works by young folks who have already perfected screams, fake blood, monsters, and the like. Those with weak stomachs will be happy to know that the festival also has a good number of sci-fi films. It’s very possible to avoid the gore. Schedule posted soon.
